MHRA Cat C Medical Kit must be purchased from licensed suppliers, says Ocean Safety

Ocean Safety are reminding vessel operators of the rules set out by the UK Government’s medicine regulator MHRA (Medicines & Healthcare ProductsRegulatory Agency) for buying the necessary Category C First Aid Kit for all coded boats.

MHRA

Ocean Safety, who are specialists in the worldwide supply, distribution, service and hire of marine safety equipment, have invested heavily in acquiring the correct license to be able to supply the Cat C Kit direct to customers. The first aid kit cannot be sold through unlicensed third parties, only by licensed sellers who hold a Wholesale Distribution Authorisation (WDA). The ruling has been in force for some time but is now being more strongly enforced.

The Ocean Signal M100 can be fitted to a lifejacket or foul weather suit and will automatically activate on inflation of the jacket.

Once activated the crewman’s position can be detected by search and rescue resources. The integrated 66 channel GPS ensures a position update is provided every minute via AIS.

Ocean Safety’s Ocean Signal M100 carries many benefits including 12 hours of operation, 2 year warranty and a 5 year battery life. This ensures cost of ownership is low due to not requiring annual servicing. Unlike other MOB systems the M100 only needs to be serviced once every two years.

The new M100 can be seen on the Caley Fisheries stand at Skipper Expo where Ocean Safety staff will be on hand to demonstrate the benefits and simplicity of the lifesaving device.

Ocean Safety, which is the exclusive distributor for Ocean Signal, supplies a full range of essential safety equipment to fishing fleets and crews including lifejackets, liferafts and man overboard recovery systems. With main depots in Aberdeen, Glasgow, Southampton and Plymouth, and stockists around the country Ocean Safety is perfectly placed to supply and service fishing fleets.
