Ocean Safety Ltd specialises in the worldwide supply, distribution, service and hire of marine and aviation safety equipment products including liferafts, lifejackets, MOB equipment and electronics. The company has grown rapidly and today boasts a diverse range of customers including ship and superyacht builders, round the world racing enthusiasts, cruising yachts as well as the UK MOD.
Training Manager
Ocean Safety Limited, the UK’s largest independent marine safety company, requires a Training Manager to coordinate and deliver all aspects of marine safety training within the business including internal and external service centres and the onward management of the service centres to ensure that certification is valid at all times. This will include both leisure and commercially (SOLAS/MED/MER) approved products.
Internal product training of all staff is an important part of personnel development within the business as well as forming the core of product knowledge for all sales staff. The training manager will be required to ensure that all internal training is as comprehensive as possible and all internal and external records are always up to date. This will include coordinating with external product suppliers to arrange the delivery of training.
The Training Manager will be required to work within the ‘Technical Department’ and deliver the training for product and product servicing and as such will require a good understanding of the maritime safety industry and be able to practically deliver the courses.
A minimum of 3 year’s experience, from within the training and maritime industry is preferred.
This position will be based in the Ocean Safety Southampton Office and, in general, is not considered to be a hybrid role. It will include an amount of travel both in the UK and overseas (short & long haul)
Areas of Responsibility
Training
Manage and maintain the training of all external service centres
Service centre training courses both UK based and ROW
Manage training centre list, ensure it is up to date at all times and published in the appropriate places
Manage Internal staff training
Establish and instigate regular product training courses both using internal knowledge base and using external suppliers
Ensure that internal training records are kept up to date and are ISO9001 compliant
Sales
Establish a working relationship with all service centres to ensure that sales of spares and additional products are always optimised
PR & Presentations
Provide presentations as required
Keep presentation aids up to date and available to others
Notify appropriate people when and where presentations are taking place and ensure that maximum exposure for Ocean Safety is achieved
