MARINE SAFETY SPECIALISTS JOIN FORCES TO RAISE BEACON AWARENESS ON ‘406DAY’  

Ocean Signal and distributor Ocean Safety team up to remind boaters
of the importance of life-saving 406 MHz technology on #406Day17

Two UK marine safety specialists are issuing important advice to boat owners about the benefits and responsibilities of owning a 406 MHz beacon on ‘406Day’ this April 6th.

Using #406Day17, leading suppliers of Personal Locator Beacons (PLBs) and Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons (EPIRBs), Ocean Signal and Ocean Safety have joined forces to raise awareness about the life-saving technology and to highlight safety checks and procedures for beacons as boaters prepare for the season.

The annual awareness day was initiated by Ocean Signal’s sister company, Florida-based ACR Electronics, and was this year officially recognised as a state-wide day in its home state for the first time. Informing boaters about the life-saving technology used by EPIRBs and PLBs, and helping people understand how to register, use and maintain their beacons correctly, the day is also a celebration of the over 40,000 lives saved by using 406 MHz beacons and the COSPAS-SARSAT Satellite system.

Ocean Safety announces third Clipper Race contract for 2017-18  

The UK’s largest marine safety equipment supplier, Ocean Safety, a 3Si group company, is once again named an Official Supplier to the Clipper 2017-18 Round the World Yacht Race as the company signs a third contract. Ocean Safety will supply another comprehensive range of safety equipment on each of the twelve 70ft (23m) yachts competing in the 40,000 nautical mile adventure.

Clipper Race founder Sir Robin Knox-Johnston said: “There’s one thing that is paramount in ocean racing: safety, safety, safety. Ensuring our fleet and crew are equipped and prepared is fundamental to the Clipper Race, which is why I’m so pleased that our longstanding partnership with Ocean Safety is continuing.” He adds “With each race edition, we strive to learn and develop, to continue to offer the highest safety standards to our crew. These include the choice to integrate AIS into all crew lifejackets.”

Ocean Safety appointed as Hammar distributor
Ocean Safety, specialists in the worldwide supply, distribution, service and hire of marine safety equipment, has been appointed a UK distributor for Hammar, the Swedish manufacturer of hydrostatic release systems (HRU’s) for liferafts. Ocean Safety, which supplies a wide range of safety equipment, including liferafts, to the commercial maritime sector, will now be in a position to provide a heightened level of service to their customers and achieve quicker supply and turnaround times.

Ocean Safety clinches supply contract for 2017 Volvo Ocean Race

Ocean Safety has signed an agreement to provide an inventory of safety equipment to each yacht in the 2017/2018 Volvo Ocean Race, the fifth consecutive time the company has supplied the world’s longest and toughest fully crewed yacht race.

Each yacht will carry the very latest in technological development including life preservation products, location and recovery equipment, as well as tried and tested products. Ocean Safety, which is the UK’s largest independent safety supplier, will also be running Sea Survival training courses for the crews prior to the start.

YouBoat, the supersized chandlery based at Endeavour Quay in Gosport, are hosting a collection of products from Ocean Safety, the UK’s largest marine safety equipment supplier, on their stand at the 2017 London Boat Show. Ocean Safety will be featuring their best selling UK designed and manufactured products alongside their most popular kit, including Kru lifejackets, Jonbuoy Man overboard equipment and Ocean Safety liferafts.

Ocean Safety appoints Senior SOLAS Market Manager 

Ocean Safety, specialists in the worldwide supply, distribution, service and hire of commercial and leisure marine safety equipment, has appointed a senior manager to direct the company’s growth area of supplying SOLAS certified products to the commercial maritime market.

Andrew Winstanley will be responsible for the continued development of a service network and customer base for Ocean Safety and its parent company 3Si, as well as handling key accounts in other areas of the 3Si group.

Andrew has many years of maritime experience. He was previously Regional Sales Manager 3SIs lifejacket manufacturing facility, International Safety Products, and has also held sales management posts at Lewmar and Bainbridge International. Most recently he has been the Sales Manager at Sonardyne.
