Alistair Hackett, Ocean Safety's Managing Director, recently delivered a 'lecture' at the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron Safety Evening.
Supporting Ocean Safety’s worldwide distributors is important to ensure that we achieve product penetration around the globe and to achieve this is it important that we maintain a great working relationship with these distributors. Currently Alistair Hackett, Ocean Safety’s Managing Director, is visiting a number of these in New Zealand and Australia and while with Hutchwilco in Auckland he was able to fulfil an offer made in February when Ocean Safety & Hutchwilco worked together servicing the Volvo Ocean Race fleet.
Alistair commented “Communicating the messages of being safe on the water is vital and getting the public to understand the equipment they have and most importantly thinking how they might use it is just as important as owning it. Lectures to yacht clubs and associations is something we do a lot of and it has been a real privilege to be asked to deliver a lecture in the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron to 130 of its members alongside one of our most committed distributors, Hutchwilco. To have the opportunity to deliver this message in such a great club and with the Americas Cup on display is unique. Our detailed understanding of the equipment we sell and how it can be applied in different vessels, in different circumstances and with different crews helps us stand out over others in the industry. During the evening a number of the audience had the opportunity to inflate lifejackets and we also showed an Ocean ISO liferaft being inflated”
The evening was a great success and included some words from the New Zealand Coastguard explaining their ‘Old for New lifejacket’ initiative which is sponsored by Hutchwilco where individuals can bring old lifejackets to roadshows and if condemned can exchange them for a new lifejacket. This helps ensure that more users afloat are using reliable jackets.
Alistair concluded “It was great to work with Hutchwilco again and we look forward to this continuing”
Other distributors in Brisbane, Sydney & Perth are on Alistair’s ‘call list’
